Brief Guild Guitar Company History

The Guild Guitar Company started in 1952 in Manhattan, New York. Initially focusing on electric and acoustic electric archtop jazz guitars in the 1950s, they expanded into folk and glues guitars in the 1960s. Guild went through numerous ownership and location changes over the years. Today, Guild is a widely respected brand by hobbyists, amateurs and pros alike.
